Get This In Your Head
“Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” John 8:32
Have you ever had a conversation with someone and you felt like it literally “went in one ear and out the other?” You invest so much wisdom and energy in what your saying, not to mention experience, only to find the other party seemingly ignored your pearls of wisdom. In looking back over my journal from recent Wednesday night bible study classes and Sunday morning sermons, I can’t help but wonder if God feels the same about me? The overarching message of my pastor and countless other wise bible teachers has been, “Get over yourself” “Push past your feelings” “Where is your faith?” And the greatest of all? SATAN IS A LIAR!” Yet, I’m embarrassed to say that my feelings get in the way of my progress. ALOT. Avoiding people and situations, because of how I feel. Stress eating. Wondering where God is in my chaos? And falling prey to Satan’s lies about basically everything. “You won’t be successful.” “Just quit.” “It’s not worth it.” Last night was the icing on the cake, so to speak. In the middle of a fiery message, a pastor who is quickly becoming one of my favorite teachers fired off this:
“You cannot be successful and make healthy decisions based on your feelings!”
Oh my goodness. If that doesn’t sum up weight loss, I don’t know what does. Friend, these crazy emotions of our will always get us into trouble. We eat our feelings. Good and bad. We must learn to push past feelings to get to truth. When will we get that, and realize Satan uses our feelings to keep us stuck? The devil’s only mission is to keep you from moving ahead with God. You are of no real threat right where you are. It’s where you’re going that scares him. So he keeps you stuck in a cycle of emotional eating, and just plain emotional emotions. Oh that today would be the day you take full authority over him. Pushing past your feelings, and reminding yourself what God has told you. Declaring your faith in God and putting Satan in his place, once and for all. Believing that God has a greater plan. Believing that through His supernatural power you will lose this weight once and for all. And believing that you are on your way to victory. Get that in your head today!
Let’s Pray.
Dear God, Daily I need You. Your wisdom, love, mercy and peace. I eat my feelings in the midst of my chaos. God I long to truly repent. I’m not just want to be sorry anymore, I want to go in a different direction, and move forward with You. Thank you for your patience and love. Today is the day I will get your truth in my head! In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen
