For me, every ounce gone is a testament to the power of God’s grace. His grace is what helped me get through each day. Every decision I made to not eat the amount or type of food I would have in March was possible only through that precious grace. Now that May has arrived, admittedly, my mind is filled with thoughts of, “There is no way you are going to have another one of those 10+ pound losses, that number was a fluke. It was all water anyway.” Not to mention the old faithful tormenting thought of “You are fooling yourself.”
I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about the number of pounds I have to lose. It’s been kind of daunting to be honest. My goal weight will require me to lose one hundred and sixty seven pounds. That’s A LOT! I’ve done the research, people. I shouldn’t have, but I did. That’s the equivalent of losing 6 average 2-year-old toddlers, 8 car tires or 3 small bales of hay. How’s that for motivation? Ah, but again, the phrase that rung true in my last post rings even louder today. “BUT GOD”! The enemy is trying to get my to focus on the numbers. And let me tell you, He is using a loudspeaker to do it. However, in spite of his loudness, what I heard over the din of his ramblings was the whisper of the Lord: it’s not about the numbers, my sweet daughter. It’s all about the process. The weight loss is just a bonus. The benefit for you is nearness to me. Those words washed over me like cool water on a hundred degree day. Those negative thoughts that had filled my mind were instantly washed away.
This journey we are on is a PROCESS. It’s not about the weight. It’s about our relationship with God. Sure, we want to lose weight and be healthy! But the goal really, if we break to down to its most minute parts, is NEARNESS to Jesus. Every pound lost is a victory for our physical body. But every minute spent with Jesus is a victory for our souls!
When you start to get bogged down with the numbers, thinking of how difficult it’s going to be, remind yourself that it’s all about the process. This process will change us FOREVER. The weight will be an afterthought. The nearness of Jesus is the ultimate reward.
Let our E4M monthly scripture be your weapon, “For the Lord your God is going WITH YOU! He will fight FOR YOU against your enemies, and He will give you VICTORY”! Deuteronomy 20:4
The time is now to join E4M! You can be victorious! Join us and find out how!
